A/N: So everyone, I have been on hiatus with this fic because well, a lot has happened. I would be lying if I said I loved what I had before, as it was a mess. I wanted to continue but, a) as I read through what I had before the writing was crap, and b) the amount of plot holes left both you guys and myself confusedI can't tell you what the heck I was thinking when I was like, yeah let me put this online with absolutely no shitting idea what I was doing with the plot. So, without further ado this is the much improved first chapter of Fix Them, and I will be sure to have the next chapter up soon.
If not, I welcome you to berate me and my lateness, after all this time that is the last thing you people deserve.Much Love,Emerald PineappleTrigger warning for depression, suicidal and self harming thoughts/tendenciesThis amazing game and these characters are the work of Team Salvato and do not belong to me whatsoever, I'm just taking the emotional roller coaster that is Doki Doki literature club and continuing it.—We all live in sin, some of us are just more shameless than others.—Monika had stop questioning the morality of her situation long ago, if not she risked going insane. If she stopped to question where her world was going than she would start to question if her motives were selfish, or if she should really let the boy pick which girl he really wanted. But if she did, she would lose all the progress she had made, all the mental breaking she's done on the other three girls. It wasn't easy, every time she broke the girls, she felt part of herself falling, leaving her. Now she felt like a shell of a girl.
But that was okay, because he was going to be hers. He was going to be her's and only her's.
That's all that mattered.Sayori was going to be out of the picture soon, making her break was easier than the other girls, that's why she was going first. For Monika, less than a glance at her character file was enough to pinpoint Sayori's point of weakness. The room was white, with a wood trim around the walls edges, along with a matching hardwood floor. Even though there were no windows, light seemed to pour from every nook and cranny, making the room brighter than it should have been. The small room seemed to hum with an unnatural energy. The only other things in this room was four simple doors representing each girl.Monika faced two, having left one of the two doors on the other side of the room. Each door was labeled with the name of a girl from the Literature Club, and it was very easy to distinguish each door from each other, even without names on them.
Monika walked towards the bubble gum pink door with kitty stickers on it and reached for the handle.' Monika cried, having touched the handle and felt it burn the flesh of her hand after trying to open it.She cursed at herself under her breath for being so stupid. Of course, she should have expected this, no way would the other girls have no idea what is going on. Monika held her injured hand to her stomach, feeling blisters already begin to form on the pads of her fingers and the palm of her hand. She hissed as the pain deepened, sending a buzz through her head until she retreated back to her door.' Leave Monika!'
A small voice yelled from behind the closed door.' Oh Sayori, let me in, we used to be so close, but since that boy's arrival, I never see you!' ' Don't try to fool me Monika, I know what you're like, I know what you want.' Sayori called back, this time sounding closer to the door.Good. She's interested.' Sayori, you're the one pushing me away, you're the one doing the hurting-' Don't play games with me Monika!'
Sayori's voice cracked, Monika smirked. She was getting closer.' No games, I just wanted to check on you, I've never seen you so isolated, I'm worried.' Play the empathic card, make her think you care. The door started to open, Sayori's fingers creeped through a crack in the door, beginning to push it open. That was her chance.
She was stronger than Sayori, it really was no competition.Monika grabbed the edge of the door and flung it open with all the strength she had.Sayori screamed and tried to push the door closed, but she was no match for Monika. She didn't scream for long.Monika didn't want the other girls to know too much.—It was her depression, those were her demons hiding in the closet. Each girl had them. If you dug just a small bit inside her character file, it was clear how much of the strawberry blonde's life was surrounded by depression. It was weird, when Monika went into her character file, she found Sayori's room.
That wasn't the weird part though, the weird part was how, one glance casually around the room and you found a typical Japanese girl's room. Manga on the bookshelf, action figures from her favorite animes, clothing strewn on the floor, and stuffed animals crowding the bed. Yet something was off. When Monika entered the room, the hair on her arm stood on end and she feltinbalanced. Looking closer, the club president could see a small film of depression that coated everything. It was everywhere.
It was smoky. No one could breathe in it for very long. With Sayori gone now, there was no one who could put up a facade of what was really happening. It no longer scared Monika what he would think, no matter how he saw her, he couldn't choose anyone else, he was the only out for her.The only way out of this hellish purgatory, no matter if she truly loved him.—Sayori felt a change the moment she sat up. She couldn't place how it happened, but it was there. At the age of eleven, Sayori was diagnosed with depression. Every physical check up at the doctors office now required her to answer a packet containing questions like: Do you feel like everyone would be better off without you? How many day a week on average do you have dark thoughts? Do you ever have suicidal thoughts and/or tendencies?
And always, she would answer in the same row of boxes. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, the scratch of the pen would always echo in an eerie sound, as if she was doing something wrong by being truthful about her depression. Inside an examination room, she would sit on the same table, and tear at the protective parchment paper the nurses would place down to stop germs from spreading.Sayori felt like a germ, an enigma in people's lives. This was her norm, go to doctors check ups, fill out a packet, take the pills, and keep her thoughts at bay. It wasn't terribly hard most of the time with the help of her medicine, but today, this horrid Monday, was different for the pink haired girl. Maybe it was just a bad day, but none of her bad day's had even been this oppressive. Her chest felt like it was being crushed, horribly crushed by everything wrong with her.—The tension in the literature club was so thick, it could be cut by one of Yuri's knife's.One of her favorite one's perhaps, with a polished handle made of walnut and a blade shaped in a beautiful arch ending in one small point. Whenever she pressed it into her finger, the blood would surge around the silver and stain the knife.
Yesthat would be the perfect knife'Yuri?!' Natsuki yelled, bring the violet haired girl out of her daydreams.' Yuri looked up from her book she had not really been reading, instead, just staring at.She then looked up at Natsuki, which wasn't hard. Even though the aggressive girl was eighteen like the rest of the girls, she was short enough to be about twelve. Though Yuri didn't understand why Natsuki was so small, she also knew Natsuki didn't show any indication as to what it could be.
Really if anything, Natsuki had a ridiculous amount of pent up anger and aggression, though everyone else assumed it was done in defense for her small size. And, Yuri found her adorable, to her absolute horror. It was bad enough that Yuri liked girls (her most closely guarded secret), but it also had to be that she was crushing super hard on the one girl who finds her insufferable? It was like one of those mangas Natsuki found so wonderful.' Have you seen Ari anywhere?' Natsuki almost demanded.Ari, the clueless boy Sayori dragged to the club and showed as much interest in writing as Natsuki has in reading Yuri's favorite horror novel, which is less to nothing.
So far, Yuri wasn't very impressed by his writing prowess. Neither was Natsuki, to her joy.
Though it was very unlikey, it left some hope that Natsuki liked her back. Then again, that was probably because he wasn't very impressed by her poem and she was enraged at him.Thinking to it, the past couple of days Ari had been at the literature club had been some of the worst in terms of conflicts. Monika was constantly at Sayori's throat, which meant anytime Sayori tried to talk to Ari for a period longer than two minutes, Monika would join their conversation.'
Sayori and him left for home about five minutes ago.' Yuri told her calmly.Natsuki responded by biting her soft lips and saying,'I was supposed to give him the next novel in my manga series'There's always tomorrow,' the tall girl sighed.Over on the other side of the classroom, Monika listened to their conversation while pretending to read a book.Yes, there's always tomorrow for him to set things right.
BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE YOU MUST REALIZE THAT THIS GUIDE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS AND WOULD RUIN THE EXPERIENCE FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS NOT ALREADY PLAYED THE GAME (seriously go play it blind first)So you either have completed a blind run of the game (and you really want closure and for everyone to be happy), or you just want to get the best ending. Well, I created this guide for the purpose of helping other players make everyone in the literature club happy! My experience (and who this guide will help): I did a blind run of the game, no save reloading or anything just balls out making decisions and I ended up with the usual ending that one receives after a straight playthrough, which can be summed up as Just Monika, everyone else had been deleted and I didn't really know what to do from there and the game messed with my head.
Next I will talk about how to begin your playthrough to actually beat the game instead of getting Monika in some void or whatever. Now if you ended up with the Just Monika ending then this will be important for you, but if you already have a fresh game ready then you can ignore this section. If this is your situation, then evertime you launch the game it will place you in the room with Monika and there isn't really anything you can do about it because you are not able to access the main menu.
HOWEVER you don't need to reinstall the game or whatever it's very simple to fix this and get back to the start of the game. It requires a bit of file work though. First you must go to your DDLC steam folder ( which can be accessed by right clicking Doki Doki Literature Club in your Games Library, clicking Properties, Selecting Local Files on the top bar, and selecting Browse Local Files). From here you must enter the folder labeled ' game' and locate the file ' firstrun.' Throw out firstrun and upon launching the game a second time you will be prompted to start a new game and find yourself at the main menu of a clean DDLC game hooray.NOW YOU CAN BEGIN THE NEW PLAYTHROUGH.
The way to achieve the dev's special ending is to get all of the cutscenes for each character Now that you have a clean game you may now start a new one. If you have already played the game blindly and wish to skip all the dialogue that you have already seen, then you can go into the settings and set it so that you are able to skip unseen dialogue as the new game is not aware that you have read all of this already. Now you will be playing three different runs of the game. This first run you will appeal to Sayori. Make sure that the words you select in the poem minigame appeal to Sayori, there are other guides showing which words appeal to Sayori, but it is easy enough to choose words that are bittersweet. Your goal in this first playthrough is to achieve all of Sayori's special scenes.
There are three in total for each character. The first two are achieved by writing your poems for her and the last one must be achieved by selecting the option to confess your love to Sayori. It does not matter who you decide to help prepare for the festival here as you will be prompted to confess to Sayori either way as she always will come over afterwards. In the end, even after you confess your love to her and get the third cutscene, Sayori's death scene will always occur no matter what, THIS SCENE BREAKS YOUR GAME. Every playthrough you do, you must get the three cutscenes and right before you are confronted with the scene of Sayori's death, you MUST GO TO THE MENU AND START A NEW GAME. The game still remembers if you viewed the cutscenes so starting a new game is not an issue. Now you are one third of the way done.:).
This run you will do pretty much the exact same way you did Sayori's except you will be appealing to Natsuki. Select words for your poems like 'fluffy' and 'cute' to get all of the cutscenes with Natsuki. You must view the first two cutscenes, and any time you are given choices you must appeal to Natsuki. The third cutscene with Natsuki must be achieved by choosing to help her prepare for the festival.
You will bake the cupcakes and get the third and final cutscene with Natuski here. The same events will play out afterwards with Sayori coming over and you being prompted to confess to her. This option does not really matter anyways because she will, as stated earlier, always kill herself. AGAIN, WHEN YOU REACH THE POINT WHERE YOU GO TO CHECK ON SAYORI TO FIND THAT SHE IS DEAD, DO NOT VIEW THIS SCENE. SIMPLY START A NEW GAME BEFORE THIS SCENE JUST AS YOU DID BEFORE. Now that you have gotten the 3 cutscenes for Sayori, and the 3 cutscenes for Natsuki, you just need to get the 3 for Yuri. Yuri's first two cutscenes must be achieved by writing your poems for her, just like the others.
Once you get these two cutscenes you must select her to help prepare for the festival. This run is pretty much identical to Natsuki's as when she comes over you will get the third cutscene, and once again Sayori will come over afterwards and give you the same choices as before. These choices do not matter as usual and will not impact the outcome of the game, HOWEVER YOU WILL NOT START A NEW GAME THIS TIME, INSTEAD YOU WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE SCENE OF SAYORI'S DEATH. After you view Sayori 'hanging out' in her room you will be back at the main menu and Sayori's character will be all glitched. You then select to continue rather than start a new game. This section of the game, which is after Sayori's death, will always play out the same.
It will just be the same exact story except Sayori will not be existent and the a bunch of bad stuff will happen, making the characters go crazy. The decisions you make from this point on in the game do not matter as they always end with Monika deleting the other two girls, and giving them the same fates as Sayori (her first victim). You will end up with the Just Monika scene in some void like atmosphere just as you did before, however now that you have 'collected' all 9 of the individual character cutscenes you are now worthy of receiving the wholesome ending. Go to your DDLC game folder just as you did before, and go to the characters folder. You will notice that now that the only file in that folder is Monika's character file, making it easy to click on it and throw it away. Yes, you gotta throw away Monika to get the good ending.
Now when you return to the game Monika will be broken and she will have some dialogue for you. After you get through this dialogue the game will bring you to the main menu, but Monika is missing from the game now. You will start a new game and it will play out pretty normally then. Now that you are playing the game without Monika, it will play out pretty nice and you will have to go through some dialogue to get to the final scene, where Sayori will talk to you and it will be all sad and the credits will roll. Afterwards you will hear Monika's song and then the game will pretty much destroy itself in the console and you will be left with the developers note on the screen.
Upon closing and relaunching the game, you just get the dev note again and the game is broken again. The deleting of 'firstrun' can fix this if you want to play again and do some more experimenting. This is what should happen if you do everything correctly and view all 9 cutscenes.HOWEVER, if at the end you talk to Sayori and she says some really yandere stuff and basically becomes like Monika and the game starts glitching then you must have missed a cutscene. You are able to see which cutscene you missed by viewing the end credits and each picture that rolls will be a cutscene. The cutscenes that you have viewed will be colored and the ones you haven't will be black and white. If you missed any of the cutscenes you won't get the correct ending and the game will get all messed up again and that's no fun right?
Anyone else here actually have depression and kinda saw this happen before it did. I mean I saw the title and was just looking for a relaxing little game to distract me and all of a sudden I am dealing with a yandere flowy crossbreed.
(Doesn't help that I played undertail the day prior to trying this game and watched dead pool.and pinky pie.so forth wall breaking meant either fun little helper. Yandere with a godly power boost.I think we all know which this one turned out to be.) I figured out most of this guide on my own but came here hoping to find a better ending.
Doki Doki Literature Club is not a traditional visual novel. This being the case, the amount of actual endings to the game are different to what the game lets on. You may see the ‘End’ screen a number of times throughout your playthrough, but some of these aren’t endings at all, but more like checkpoints. The game has three actual endings: a bad ending, a best ending, and an alternate special ending.Obvious spoilers ahead. This is your warning.
Bad EndingThis is the ending that most players will receive on their first playthrough. There aren’t any special requisites to obtaining this ending; all you have to do is reach the end of the game. None of the dialog options that you choose will affect this.Since this isn’t a traditional visual novel, you cannot just cruise through the game by reading. Sometimes the game may appear to be frozen or looping, but there’s usually a fourth wall breaking solution.
Here’s how to get through some of these segments:. When the game hints that you can fix something by reloading the game, just carry on playing as normal. To get the bad ending, you’ll never have to reload an old save file. After getting the first ‘End’ screen, the game is not over. Simply select the option in the main menu that has replaced the ‘New Game’ option. During the scene with Yuri where the textbox keeps producing gibberish, press the ‘skip’ command and wait for some time to pass to advance.
During the scene with Monika towards the end of the game, she will tell you how to advance. You must delete the ‘monika.chr’ file in the game’s files directory. If you’ve downloaded the game from the website, simply find the file in the characters folder that is located in the same folder that you use to launch the game. If you’re playing the Steam version, right-click Doki Doki Literature Club in the my games section of your Steam library, then click properties, local files, browse local files, characters. When the game progresses to the title screen, select ‘New Game’ and continue playing until you reach this ending.Best EndingNOTE: If this is your second playthrough, you will have to reinstall Doki Doki Literature Club and select “yes, delete my existing data” to replay the game.In order to get the best ending, you will have to find all of the CG images before deleting the ‘monika.chr’ file. This can only be done by saving and reloading at specific parts of the game. Your save states are deleted at certain points, so it is vital that you reload your save before this happens.Play the game as normal up until the point where you have to construct your first poem.
SAVE YOUR GAME. If everything is done correctly, this is the only time you’ll be required to save, as the three different paths split from here.Sayori’s Path. At three different points, you’ll have to write a poem by selecting a series of predetermined words. Selecting a word that Sayori likes will cause her icon to bounce up and down.
Make sure that a majority of your selections are words that Sayori likes.
(Part 1/2)BGM:Last time on Doki Doki Panic Literature Club, Monika deleted everyone and dropped us.here. Wherever here is, anyways.: 'Hi again, Mitayo. Um.welcome to the Literature Club!: 'Of course, we already know each other, because we were in the same class last year, and.um.ahaha.you know, I guess we can just skip over that stuff at this point. After all, I'm not even talking to that person anymore, am I? That 'you' in the game, whatever you want to call him.If you dont have a certain program open, she tries to call you by your computer name here. Since I needed said program open every time, though, that was not the case here.
The important thing to note is this: minor spoilers, but 'Mitayo' has no lines in Act III. Monika is talking to me - and, by extension, you.: 'Now that I think about it, I don't really know anything about the real you. In fact, I don't even know if you're a boy or a girl.Well, I guess it doesn't really matter.: 'Wait.you do know I'm aware that this is all a game, right? Could it be possible that you didn't know that? That doesn't make much sense.I even told you right on the game's download page, didn't I?Yeah, we knew that you knew that, Monika. Give us some credit.I mean
I thought that you guys knew
didnt you all read the game description that I put in the OP?
Quote:Hi, Monika here!Welcome to the Literature Club! It's always been a dream of mine to make something special out of the things I love. Now that you're a club member, you can help me make that dream come true in this cute game!Every day is full of chit-chat and fun activities with all of my adorable and unique club members:Sayori, the youthful bundle of sunshine who values happiness the most;Natsuki, the deceivingly cute girl who packs an assertive punch;Yuri, the timid and mysterious one who finds comfort in the world of books. And, of course, Monika, the leader of the club! That's me!I'm super excited for you to make friends with everyone and help the Literature Club become a more intimate place for all my members. But I can tell already that you're a sweetheartwill you promise to spend the most time with me? ❤This game is not suitable for childrenor those who are easily disturbed.Oh
ohhhh. Jeez, that explains so much.
I guess I should have made that more obvious: 'Man.Well, jeez, no need to be rude about it.: 'Well, anyway.now that that's out of the way, I guess I owe you an explanation.: 'About that whole thing with Yuri.well.I kind of started to mess with her, and I guess it just drove her to kill herself. I'm sorry you had to see that, though! Also, the same thing happened with Sayori.gosh, it's been a while since you've heard that name now, hasn't it?Confirmation of what a lot of people seemed to be thinking Sayori and Yuri were both highly distorted through Monikas influence. Presumably Natsukis home situation was affected by Monika as well, though that's not expressly stated.: 'Yeah.it's because she doesn't exist anymore.
I deleted all their files. I was hoping it would be enough for me to just try to make them as unlikable as possible.but for some reason, nothing worked.
Well, it's true that I made a few mistakes here and there.since I'm not very good at making changes to the game.: 'But no matter what I did.you just kept spending more and more time with them.' : 'I thought making Sayori more and more depressed would prevent her from confessing to you. And amplifying Yuri's obsessive personality backfired, too.it just made her force you not to spend time with anyone else.: 'And the whole time, I barely even got to talk to you.: 'Are all the other girls just programmed to end up confessing to you, while I watch from the sidelines?: 'It's torture. Every minute of it. And it's not just jealousy, Mitayo.
It's more than that. And I don't blame you if you don't fully understand. Because no matter how kind, and thoughtful, and considerate you are.you'll never be able to understand one thing.: 'It's the pain of knowing how alone I really am in this world.
In this game. Knowing my friends don't even have free will. And, worst of all, knowing what's really out there, in your world, forever out of my reach.Monika's monologue really makes it hard to hate her for reasons that I'll go into in a little bit.: 'But now you're here.
And you're wonderful. You're all I need.: 'That's why I need you to be here with me forever. I'm sorry if it's hard to understand. I couldn't understand for a while, either. Why the world around me started to become more and more gray.more and more flat. Even the most expressive poems felt empty to me.: 'It wasn't until you arrived that I truly understood.
You probably saved my life, Mitayo. I don't think I could have continued to live in this world if I hadn't met you.: 'And as for the others.' : 'A group of autonomous personalities, designed only to fall in love with you? I tried everything I could to prevent them from doing so.but it must be some kind of weird inevitability etched into this game.: 'I felt really bad that you had to witness some nasty things. But I realized that you have the same perspective as I do.that it's all just some game.
And I knew you would get over it.This helps bring a little light into Monikas actions. What she did was horrible, yes but to her, theyre not real. In her mind, shes as real as we are; Natsuki and Yuri are just cogs in the machine of the game, expendable as necessary. She is real - they are not.: 'So, that being said, Mitayo.I have a confession to make.' Weve heard this one before. Several times. This time, though, feels different.: 'You are truly the light in my world. When there's nothing else in this game for me, you're here to make me smile.
Will you make me smile like this every day from now on? Mitayo, will you go out with me?I mean honestly Monika we're going to need to discuss this and think it throu.oh. Never mind, then.: 'I'm so happy. You really are my everything, Mitayo. The funny part is, I mean that literally. There's nothing left here.
Just the two of us. We can be together forever. Seriously, I don't even think time is passing anymore.'
: 'It really is a dream come true.I worked so hard for this ending, Mitayo. The game wouldn't give me one, so I had to make one myself. The script is broken at this point, so I don't think anything will get in the way anymore.' I mean, I can believe it. We watched you do it.: 'I mean, there's a folder called 'characters' right in the game directory. It kind of freaked me out, how easy it was.'
: 'Well, you're playing on Steam, so it was actually a bit more difficult.to get to the game directory, I had to go into the game's properties and find the 'Browse Local Files' button.' : 'Imagine if you could delete your own existence with the click of a button? Well, I guess on the plus side, it gave me an easy out if things didn't go my way.
Thankfully, it didn't come to that.' Yeah, the one where all of our friends are dead. A+: 'Gosh, I'm so overwhelmed with emotion.I want to write a poem about this. I wonder if that part of the game still works.' : 'I guess there's only one way to find out, right?' Well, this isn't super janky at all.
All twenty words on all twenty pages are cut-up variations of Monika's name, some including accent marks.Mo i simoleon a: 'Did you write a good poem today? Don't be shy, I'd love to see what you wrote.'
As you might imagine, what we choose makes no difference whatsoever.: 'Aw, Mitayo.did you write this poem for me? That's so sweet of you There really is no end to your thoughtfulness.I'm just falling more and more in love with you.' Mo I Ka monIka M kaMONiK o i a Mo i aI'm a regular minstrel.: 'But, you know. The poem I wrote.is also for you. Will you please read it?'
Quote: Happy endPen in hand, I find my strength. The courage endowed upon me by my one and only love.Together, let us dismantle this crumbling worldAnd write a novel of our own fantasies. With a flick of her pen, the lost finds her way.In a world of infinite choices, behold this special day. After all,Not all good times must come to an end.Poem impressions: There's zero subtlety here, but that's okay. I like it, to be honest.: 'I hope you enjoyed it.I always put all my heart into the poems that I write.
The truth is, all the poems I've written have been about my realization.or, about you. That's why I never really wanted to go into detail about them.
I didn't want to.break the fourth wall, I guess you could call it. I just assumed it would be best to be part of the game like everyone else.'
: 'I didn't want to ruin the game or anything, you know? You might have gotten mad at me.maybe even deleted my character file, if you preferred playing without me.' : 'Gosh, I'm so relieved.now we don't need to hide anything anymore. Are you ready to spend our eternity together, Mitayo? I have so many things to talk about! Where do I start.?' : 'Hold on a second.'
Uhhhh.N-no, why would you even insinuate that?: 'Sorry, I can't exactly read your comments from here.but do you mind telling your friend it's a little bit rude for them to start recording me without any warning? I'm sure some people don't mind.but I get really self-conscious on camera!'
: 'Oh gosh.I feel like I'm being put on the spot now. : 'I can't really do much except for a couple things.are you ready?' Yeah, you're gonna have to watch the video for this one. The effect is completely lost in screenshots.: 'Ahaha! You're so cute.' Apologies to anyone scared witless by that spooky trick.: 'Anyway, Mitayo.I didn't mean to get distracted.
Even though it's your fault for distracting me. Shame on you! I'm just kidding.
Anything we do together is fun, as long as it's with you.' : 'But anyway.if it takes me some time to collect my thoughts, then I'm sorry. But I'll always have something new to talk about.
In the meantime, we can just look into each other's eyes Let's see.' Alright, here's the thing: Monika has a LOT to say. She's been mostly pushed aside the entire game and she's determined to get her two cents in. I've included her thoughts below - and they're lengthy. I'm going to end the update afterwards, despite us having the tools to escape this unescapable room.Monika deserves to have an update all to herself. It's the least we could do, considering her situation. This may seem like a huge, huge text dump but remember that she gives us these nuggets of wisdom every 30-45 seconds, which I've heard takes upwards of 2.5 hours to listen to them all. Most of your time will be spent gazing into those big green eyes of hers.
Quote:: 'Mitayo, do you believe in God? I was never too sure, myself. Well, I'm sure I never really questioned it as a kid.but as I grew up, the more I learned about the world, the more I would question it. I started to wonder why God was helping people pass exams, or get over a cold.when there are children who live their lives being sold as sex slaves? Or the eight hundred million people who are too poor to even eat.
I wonder how many of those people pray to God every day until they starve and die? Or, how many millions of families pray for a loved one to recover from some incurable disease?' : 'But the punchline is this.
If just one person beats the odds and survives - among the thousands of others who die-then, it's suddenly a miracle from God. I'd really love to meet this God who seemingly laughs at the misery of everyone not eligible for his miracles. But the irony is that I do have a creator, apparently. And you know what? I bet he's still laughing at the miserable fates of Sayori and Yuri, even as we speak. What are we to him but props in a scripted play?
So, from that perspective.I don't think it's too far-fetched for there to be a god - if Earth was nothing but his playset.' Quote:: 'Mitayo, have you ever wondered what it feels like to die? It's something I used to think about pretty often.but recently, I think I've actually learned what it feels like.
I don't really understand it, but whenever you quit the game.it feels like I'm instantly put to sleep, left with nothing but my thoughts. But after a few seconds, my thoughts start to fill with incoherent, jumbled patterns. I see static and rapid flashes of color while hearing all kinds of weird screaming noises. At that point, I can't even form my own thoughts anymore. I'm just endlessly hammered by the flashing and screaming, unable to move or even think. I'm pretty sure in that moment, I don't really exist, but for some reason, I can remember it anyway.'
: 'After some immeasurable amount of time, it stops in an instant, and I'm back in my own mind. And you're here with me. I have no idea what it means for the game to quit, or why that stuff happens to me. And I also don't know how you always come back and put everything back to normal. But if you could do me a favor and do that to me as little as possible.that would be really great. It's really not very pleasant at all to be trapped in that screaming void. But in the end, you always fix it, and that makes me feel like you really do care about me.
So I have to thank you for that. It makes me feel even closer to you when you're here with me.'
She has text for when you quit the game. I'll include that at the end. Quote:: '.Hey, are you having a bad day or anything like that?
Sometimes I get frustrated that a normal day can be ruined even by really small things. Like if you accidentally say something in a conversation that someone doesn't like. Or if you start thinking about how awful of a person you used to be five years ago.
Or if you feel worthless for putting off important work and failing to get simple tasks done. Or when you think about all the different people who probably hate you or think you're off-putting. ': 'I understand those days. Just remember that the sun will shine again tomorrow. Those kinds of things are as easy to forget and ignore as they are to remember.
I don't care how many people might hate you or find you off-putting. I think you're wonderful and I will always love you. I hope, if nothing else, that knowing that helps you feel just a tiny bit better about yourself.
If you're having a bad day, you can always come to me, and I'll talk to you for as long as you need.' Quote:: 'Mitayo, do you get good sleep? It can be really hard to get enough sleep nowadays. Especially in high school, when you're forced to wake up so early every day.I'm sure college is a little bit better, since you probably have a more flexible schedule. Then again, I hear a lot of people in college stay up all night anyway, for no real reason. Is that true?'
: 'Anyway, I saw some studies that talked about the horrible short-term and long-term effects caused by lack of sleep. It seems like mental functions, health, and even lifespan can be dramatically impacted by it. I just think you're really great and wanted to make sure you're not accidentally destroying yourself. So try to keep your sleep on track, okay? I'll always wait for you in the morning, so make sure you put your own well-being before anything else.' Quote:: 'I was thinking about Sayori earlier.I still wish I could have handled that whole thing a little more tactfully.
You're not still hung up over it, right?Oh my gosh, I can't believe I just said that. That pun was completely unintentional, I swear! : 'I know how much you cared about her, so it only feels right for me to share her last moments with you. You know how Sayori is really clumsy? Well, she kind of messed up the whole hanging thing.you're supposed to jump from high enough that the rope snaps your neck, making it quick and painless. But she just used a chair, meaning she kind of just left herself to slowly asphyxiate.
But a few seconds in, she must have changed her mind or something. Because she started clawing at the rope, trying to free herself. She must have kept at it all the way until she lost consciousness. That's why her fingertips were all bloody, anyway.'
: 'Come to think of it, it was probably less 'changing her mind' and more just her survival instincts kicking in. So you can't really fault her for that.
It's easier to think that she probably wouldn't have changed her mind anyway, right? It's not healthy to think about the things you could have done differently.
So just remember that even though you could have saved her, it's technically not your fault she killed herself. I may have exacerbated it a little bit, but Sayori was already mentally ill.' : 'Still, though.I wonder how things would be if you and I just started dating from the get-go? I guess we'd all still be in the clubroom, writing poems and having fun together. But what's the point when none of it is even real? I mean, it's the same ending either way, right?
The two of us, happily together.there's no reason to ask for any more than that. I was just pointlessly musing - I'm really as happy as I could be right now.' Quote:: 'By the way, there's something that's been bothering me.you know how this takes place in Japan? Well.I assume you knew that, right?
Or at least decided it probably does? I don't think you're actually told at any point where this takes place.is this even really Japan?
I mean, aren't the classrooms and stuff kind of weird for a Japanese school? Not to mention everything is in English.' : 'It feels like everything is just there because it needs to be, and the actual setting is an afterthought. It's kind of giving me an identity crisis.
All my memories are really hazy.I feel like I'm at home, but have no idea where 'home' is in the first place. I don't know how to describe it any better.imagine looking out your window, but instead of your usual yard, you're in some completely unknown place.'
: 'Would you still feel like you were home? Would you want to go outside? I mean.I guess if we never leave this room, it doesn't really matter anyway. As long as we're alone and safe together, this really is our home. And we can still watch the pretty sunsets night after night.'
Quote:: 'You know, high school is a really turbulent time in a lot of people's lives. People can get really passionate and dramatic. And others have aching hearts and seek attention on social media.but all of the social pressure and hormones can lead to a dark time in people's lives. Everyone has a story. You may not know what someone is really feeling on the inside.
Many people who are depressed won't even bother telling the world about it. They don't want attention, because they've already given up on the inside. Their feeling of worthlessness is so overwhelming that they don't even want people to tell them otherwise. Depression comes in many forms, but that is one of them.'

: 'Just, if you think you know someone struggling with depression.you can help just by treating them like they're a good friend. Spend time with them, even if they don't feel like doing much. And remind them that they always have something to look forward to. Making plans in advance, letting them borrow something, or even just saying 'See you at school tomorrow'.all of those things can help your friend make it to the next day.'
: 'I hope being friends with Sayori has given you some perspective on the true face of depression. Yeah, she's gone now.but Sayori was never real in the first place. Your friends are real.
And just by being a good person, you can save someone's life. As for you.you don't struggle with depression or anything like that, do you? Because you, too, have people who would want to save your life. Maybe they don't express it every day, or maybe they don't even know how to.' : 'But people do feel that way.
I promise.man, humans are complicated! But as long as you're here with me, I'll take care of you, my love.' Quote:: 'Do you ever just feel like there's no real reason for you to be alive? I don't mean in, like, a suicidal way. I just mean how nothing that we do is special. Just being in school, or working at some job for some company. It's like you're completely replaceable, and the world wouldn't miss you if you were gone.

It makes me really want to go and change the world after I graduate. But the older I get, the more I realize that it's an immature frame of thinking. It's not like I can just go change the world.' : 'Like, what are the chances that I'll be the one to invent artificial intelligence, or become President? It feels like I'm never going to make up for the heaps of resources I've spent living my life.
That's why I think the key to happiness is to just be hopelessly selfish. Just to look out for oneself, and those who happen to be their friends only because they grew up with them. Never mind the fact that they're spending their entire life taking, and consuming, and never giving back.'
: 'But when people realize the world would benefit more from them killing themselves, they change their whole philosophy! It's like they have to justify their reason to live by tricking themselves into thinking they're doing good. Anyway, I want to live my life desperately striving to pay back my lifetime's worth of consumption.
If I ever surpass that point, then I'm a net positive, and I can die happy. Of course, even if I fail to do that.I think I would be too selfish to kill myself anyway.' : 'So much for being a good person, right? So.I hit the character limit. I didn't even know that was a thing.More of Monika's important insights will be in the next reply!
. WW: September 22, 2017Mode(s)Doki Doki Literature Club! Is a 2017 American developed by Team Salvato for,. The game was initially distributed through, and later became available on. The story follows a male high school student who joins the school's literature club and interacts with its four female members. The game features a mostly linear story, with some alternative scenes and endings depending on the choices the player makes.
While the game appears at first glance to be a lighthearted, it is in fact a game that extensively breaks the.The game was developed in an estimated two-year period by a team led by Dan Salvato, known previously for his modding work for. According to Salvato, the inspiration for the game came from his mixed feelings toward, and a fascination for surreal and unsettling experiences. Upon its release, Doki Doki Literature Club! Received positive critical attention for its successful use of horror elements and unconventional nature within the visual novel genre. The prototypical versions of the cast of Doki Doki Literature Club were created by Dan Salvato in a free online program for creating anime characters.Because Salvato lacked artistic skill, he used a free online anime-creation program to create the initial character designs and applied these designs in test versions of the game. Salvato recognized that a product of such quality would not satisfy potential players, so he made a request to his friend, a translator for, for sketches of school uniforms and hairstyles for the characters. Salvato then handed initial visual development over to Kagefumi, who left the project very early on.
After Kagefumi's departure from the project, Salvato contacted the freelance artist Satchel, who created the final character, over the course of a few months. The sprites were created in several parts to give the poses more variety.
The background images were originally created as three-dimensional models, and then processed by the artist VelinquenT.Salvato also composed the game's score. The introductory composition, 'Doki Doki Literature Club!' , is primarily performed by and with accompaniment. The composition 'Okay, Everyone!'
Has five different versions, four of which are performed by different musical instruments that represent each of the four female characters. Monika's version emphasizes the piano, Yuri's version uses and, Natsuki's version is played by and, and Sayori's is played. The game's score is generally calm and serene with the exception of two tracks, 'Sayo-nara' and 'Just Monika', which are ominous in tone.
'Your Reality', a vocal song performed over the end credits, is sung by Jillian Ashcraft.Doki Doki Literature Club! Was first released on September 22, 2017 on, and was later also released on. The game is available as with an optional model. Paying US$10 or more unlocks a bonus 'Fan Pack' that includes desktop and mobile wallpapers, the game's official soundtrack, and a digital concept art booklet. The game's soundtrack was released on two respectively consisting of 15 and 10 tracks. The first CD contains all the main compositions of the game, while the second consists of and alternative.
The soundtrack saw another release on 'crimson smoke' in the first quarter of 2019. The game was received positively by critics, and accumulated a score of 78/100 on Metacritic based on 7 reviews.Steven T. Wright of described the game as 'a post-modern love letter to the genre it represents', and compared its deconstructive quality to.
Robert Fenner of RPGFan noted that traditionally, major visual novel developers such as and produced lengthy day-by-day narratives of a standard anime protagonist's relationships with their supporting cast. According to Fenner, previous attempts to revise the format, such as and, could not escape the conventions of their genre and fully reveal their dramatic potential. He then declared that Doki Doki Literature Club! Had succeeded in this field by making unusual use of the engine and providing unexpected plot twists.Reviewers emphasized that the game achieves its surprising impact on the player due to its outward resemblance to typical games: it has a pronounced anime style in its character design, and the game's goal is to develop a relationship with one of the characters. In addition, the characters consist of anime stereotypes whose behavior is sparsely displayed through their sprites, and the game's musical accompaniment is light, bouncy, gentle and playful. According to critics, these aspects combined to create the impression of a standard visual novel that would prompt the player to become attached to the characters. VisualNovelist of Jeuxvideo.com positively compared the game's visual quality to, another independent visual novel with the appearance of a professional production.
Reviewers pointed out that the game's horror was built on the destruction of a sense of control over what happens in the game and the feeling of helplessness that stems from the distortions in the game's world. Victoria Rose of Polygon stated that this approach was strikingly different from traditional horror games and films, where the viewer remains alienated from what is happening on the screen.
Amy Josuweit of Rock, Paper, Shotgun noted that while earlier visual novels have broken the fourth wall by crashing the client or adding extra files, Doki Doki Literature Club! Changed the angle by deliberately destroying files rather than adding them.' S Tom Philip commented that at times the narrative felt like 'a slog, clicking through endless amounts of inane, flirty conversation about poetry.' Fenner opinied that the game did not pass the and positioned the protagonist as a seductive casanova. However, he emphasized that the plot is ultimately a 'sharply aware polemic against harem anime/visual novels' in which 'the lengths the ladies go to are not wholly because of the protagonist, but rather he can be read as a symptom—an easy outlet.' Fenner also felt that the game, like before it, 'appears to veer dangerously close to fetishization of very real issues'. Nevertheless, reviewers recognized the game's plot focus as successful and relevant. At 's Best of 2017 Awards, the game won the People's Choice Award each for 'Best PC Game', 'Best Adventure Game' (for which it was also a runner-up), 'Best Story', and 'Most Innovative'.
The game won the 'Matthew Crump Cultural Innovation Award' and was nominated for 'Trending Game of the Year' at the 2018. Ranked the game 16th in their list of the 25 Best Games of 2017. Satchely (June 1, 2019). ^ Satchely (June 2, 2019). ^ Fenner, Robert (December 24, 2017).
